Catholic Outreach Empty Bowls Benefit

The Grand Valley Catholic Outreach will hold its 12th annual Empty Bowls Benefit this weekend to raise money for its soup kitchen.

Sr. Karen Bland, Executive Director, Grand Valley Catholic Outreach said, “Empty Bowls is a wonderful way to remind us that there are people who daily go hungry in our valley. We are privileged to be able to share the blessings that come through the generosity of others.”

Here’s a brief look at the Empty Bowls benefit:
 Inspired in 1996 by Ginger Rice
 Fundraiser continues to provide funds to feed the hungry
in Mesa County
 It is a community-wide effort – many organizations &
individuals make the event possible
 Tickets are $22 which buys soup, dessert and handmade
pottery bowl of the attendees choice
 Relax and enjoy while listening to the Evergreen String
Quartet.

Catholic Outreach is a non-profit organization dedicated to feeding the hungry of the Grand Valley. Last year, 68,000 meals were prepared and served to individuals in need and the number continues to increase by 5% each year. The organization says on any given day, about 200 individuals, families and children will come for the noon-day meal.
