Denver (AP) - They came into the World Series having won 21 of 22 games but left on the short end of a 4-0 series sweep to Boston.
Still, Colorado Rockies Manager Clint Hurdle was offering no excuses for his team that was outscored 29-10 in the four losses.
Hurdle says the Red Sox are ``a great team and they're hot -- it's a tough combination.''
Asked whether the eight-day layoff between the NLCS and the World Series hurt his team, Hurdle replied: ``we've been a no-excuse team and we got outplayed.''
Still, hurdle complimented his club for its tremendous late-season run just to qualify for the postseason. hurdle said it was an ``honor and a privilege to manage these Rockies, who he said brought him more joy than he's had in his 33 years in professional baseball.
Hurdle says despite getting swept, ``it was an incredible ride.''
