Law Enforcement Receives Grant To Crack Down On Underage Drinking

The Mesa County Sheriff's Office receives a $40,000 grant to help crack down on underage drinking.

The grant will help fund several different operations like tracking down liquor stores who sell alcohol to minors, minors who try to buy alcohol illegally, and adults who provide alcohol to minors.

The Sheriff's Office says they will send undercover deputies to underage drinking parties and will use air surveillance over desert and mountain party spots. It also plans on using teenage volunteers to go into liquor stores and attempt to buy alcohol.

Last year, deputies arrested more than 300 minors who were caught with alcohol.
