A man with an extensive criminal past is facing possible vehicular homicide charges after leading police on a fatal high speed chase in Mesa County.
The deadly crash happened Tuesday morning on Highway 65 just a mile up the mesa from I–70.
The Colorado State Patrol says troopers tried to pull over 24 year old Logan Lage for speeding but the suspect wouldn't stop and led them on a 15 miles chase.
While attempting to pass a semi truck on the two lane road,
Lage collided head on with a Nissan Exterra driven by 26 year old Shea Lehnen.
Lehnen, who was 8 1/2 months pregnant, and her one year old son were both taken to St. Mary's Hospital. Lehnen's unborn child was killed in the crash.
Lage received serious injuries in the crash, and had to be extricated from his vehicle.
Charges are pending, but Officials say Lage could be prosecuted for vehicular homicide and reckless endangerment.
Lehnen's one year old son recieved only minor injuries.
