The Mesa County District Attorney's Office is anxious to move ahead with charges stemming from a fatal accident this week, but are still awaiting a vital piece of evidence.
On Monday, 24-year-old Logan Lage slammed into Shea Lehnen's vehicle on Highway 65 head-on while allegedly eluding police.
Lehnen was injured in the crash, but did lose her unborn baby girl that she had been carrying for 8 1/2 months.
District Attorney Pete Hautzinger is seeking vehicular homicide charges but under Colorado law, it depends on if the child was alive when removed from the womb.
The coroner's office is expected to release the autopsy report in the very near future but in the meantime, Lage remains at St. Mary's Hospital and is recovering from serious injuries sustained in the crash.
