A Sheriff’s Deputy now has to undergo a test for rabies after being bitten by a wolf-breed mix.
Animal Control and Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a call of “dogs at large” in the 2500 block of Davis Drive in Grand Junction. The Sheriff’s Office was called to assist since the homeowner of the property attempted to hit an Animal Control Officer over the head with a shovel last August.
Today two dogs were found loose on the street, one dog was detained but the other was more difficult. A wolf-breed mix bit the Sheriff’s Deputy twice before the Deputy was forced to shoot and kill the dog.
The dog owner was issued citations for a Dog at Large, Failure to Control and for having no license for a dog.
