An old church collapsed early this morning after catching fire.
The church has been used as a storage unit by a local family and no one was inside when the fire broke out early Sunday morning. Four Grand Junction Fire Units responded to the fire and 24 Road was closed for four hours while the fire was extinguished.
The fire was a defensive fire with the units working to protect surrounding properties. Damages to the building and its contents is in excess of $ 100,000.
No one was injured during the blaze.
