The season of giving has officially started and one group wants to make sure that the giving extends all the way to U.S. Troops serving across the world.

Operation Interdependence is a group that sends food, toiletries and other supplies to American troops stationed in Iraq, Afghanistan, and several other countries.

The group sends a box to a commander, who then distributes individual bags with the gifts and a note from the person who made it to the soldiers. Fifty bags are placed into each box.

The local chapter of the Operation Interdependence says they also likes to include a giant chess board signed by people across the Grand Valley to show their support.

"This is our way of helping people to understand and helping the troops to understand that this is what we do," said Operation Interdependence Area Manager Karon Carley. "We want them to know there are people here that are interested in them and do still support them."
