GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO)--Printing presses make a constant drone at CPC Solutions pumping out hundreds of prints every minute. The JUCO 2011 program and baseball cards being several of those projects.

"Starting in 2008, we started the cards, the junior college trading cards," says Rich Garigen company's president of digital printing. Garigen says the cards have been wildly popular, especially those of Bryce Harper. This year they're even printing 200 special editions of his draft card.

Garigen says, "So if someone is buying those JUCO cards for this year they could get a special edition Bryce Harper card." CPC Solutions has also been printing the JUCO programs since 1971 and marketing them since 1998.

Established in 1947 CPC Solutions was previously known as the Colorado Printing Company but recently changed that name to keep up with the changing printing business. Garigen says, "You know we are one of the survivors. It's because we are doing some of these new things that are attracting clients to us." Those new things include doing all their own marketing as well as variable data printing, allowing them to print unique pieces at a high rate of speed.

One of the things we do differently that a lot of people don't really know about are personalized QR codes," says Garigen. A QR or quick response code gives the consumer a more interactive mailing or flier. Just scan it with your smart phone and it takes you to a video link or web site. It's those codes that CPC Solutions are able to personalize for each recipient. Garigen says, "And that's pretty cool because then you can track who is scanning that QR code and you know that they went to your site."

Another thing that they do different is cut their own paper for printing. They are also certified by the Forest Stewardship Council. And last year recycled a whopping 1.3 million pounds of paper. Paper that could come back as next years 2012 JUCO program or baseball cards.

CPC Solutions can also handle about 700-800 thousand pieces of mail in about 24 hours.
