GRAND JUNCTION, Colo (KKCO) -- Two Colorado State Patrol Troopers involved in the fatal shooting of a Grand Junction man last year will face a jury. Trooper Ivan Lawyer and Corporal Kirk Firko pleaded not guilty today in the death of 31 year old Jason Kemp last summer.

Kemp was killed when he refused to allow the officers in to his home after reports of an accident. Both troopers tried to break down the door. When the door finally opened Lawyer allegedly fired a shot at Kemp, killing him.

Lawyer faces charges of criminally negligent homicide. Firko is facing charges of criminal trespassing and criminal mischief. Their trial is scheduled to begin in December.
