With only three days left before Christmas, the final rush to get all the holiday shopping donw is on, and for many in the Grand Valley that rush has led them to Mesa Mall.
"The Saturday before Christmas is typically the busiest shopping day of the year as far as sales volume," said Mesa Mall spokesperson Jammie McCloud.
For some shoppers, waiting until the weekend before Christmas means scoring the best deals of the year. For others, waiting this long was their only option.
"I'm so busy at work during the week that this is the only opportunity I really have," said shopper Jay Jones.
Some say they've got most of their shopping done and are just looking for a few more things.
"We're doing last minute Christmas shopping for the ones that are hard to buy for," said shopper Kathy Martinez.
Others say they're done shopping, but came with friends who hadn't finished buying their gifts.
"They're actually wrapped and under a tree," said shopper Melissa Davis. "But it's still fun to come and shop anyway."
To lend a helping hand to all those last minute shoppers, Mesa Mall is extending its normal hours this weekend. Several department stores are planning on staying open even later than the mall. Even mall employees say that's something they can't pass up.
"I'm probably going to be taking advantage of some of those extended shopping hours," said McCloud. "I've got a few more things to buy."
