Grand Valley Hit By Widespread Power Outage

Two brief but widespread power outages hit the Grand Valley Sunday.

According to Xcel Energy, the first outage happened at 3:59 a.m. and lasted for about 21 minutes. It affected folks in Orchard Mesa, Grand Junction, Clifton and Fruita.

Xcel says it was a disruption on a transmission system.

11 News has also received reports that Grand Valley Power may have had an outage at the same time. But because it's Sunday we're having a hard time getting that confirmed.

The second outage happened at 12:59 Sunday afternoon. There's no word yet on what caused it or how many people it affected.
