AP_ One person is reported missing after an avalanche in southern Colorado. Alamosa County authorities say a man reported his sister missing after they were hit by an avalanche Thursday near the 14,345-foot-high Blanca Peak. That's about 140 miles south of Denver.
Ground crews are searching for the woman today, but Sheriff's
Spokeswoman Carol Orton says high winds have grounded a helicopter.
The brother has been taken to a hospital, but the extent of his
injuries is unknown. Orton says he had to hike out to get within
cell-phone range to alert authorities.
The search for the missing woman will resume Saturday at 8 a.m.
