This year in Mesa County eight people have been hospitalized with influenza.

The entire state of Colorado is seeing a rise in the cases of influenza, in fact it's being called “widespread”, and more than 100 people have already been hospitalized.

Mesa County Health Department is urging residents to prevent catching and spreading the virus. They advise that you avoid close contact, stay home when sick, keep hands clean, and avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth.

Flu vaccines are still available. Just walk into the Mesa County Health Department during business hours.
