Governor Bill Ritter says he would like to see Mesa State College get 14 million dollars for its Saunders Field House renovation and expansion project.
The governor's announcement, which was made in Denver today, came as part of the Mesa State Board of Trustee's meeting. Senator Josh Penry says while it's great to have the governor on board, there's still a long way to go, but he's confident that he can get the funding secured within the year.
Penry also says the Saunders Field House project would make a dent in Colorado’s nursing shortage. Whether the college will get the 14 million dollars or not will be decided in the next two to three months by the state legislature.
