An accident on Highway 141 near Mile Marker 150 sends one man to the hospital just before 6:00 p.m. Wednesday.
Troopers with the Colorado State Patrol say an elderly man was going north on the highway and failed to negotiate a curve. He then plunged into a flood control ditch landing on the roof of his car.
The Lands End Fire Department and Grand Junction Fire Department were able to extricate him through the back window. He was taken to St. Mary's Hospital with what are thought to be non–life threatening injuries.
State Troopers say the man is lucky that someone saw him go off the highway and called 911 because where he went off was not visible from the road and it could have been hours or days before anyone found him.
The accident is under investigation.
