A public hearing lasting almost five hours ends with the council passing the approval to amend zoning on the 151 acres of land for proposed subdivision, Weeminuche Estates.
Starting at seven Wednesday night, the auditorium was packed with those for and against the subdivision. The main concern, density.
The council voted to amend the zoning decision set back in 1995 when the land was annexed, allowing developers to build over 300 homes on the property.
Construction on the subdivision will be built in three phases. It should begin this summer and be completed sometime in 2014.
