Firefighters had to help a driver climb out of his pickup this morning after he rolled it on Interstate 70, just west of 20 Road.
55-year–old Stuart Patterson of Parachute had to go to the hospital after the pickup landed on its side. Lower Valley Firefighters first tried to help him through the windshield after they smashed it, but eventually helped him climb out the door window. His pickup traveled more than seven hundred feet before coming to rest just a few feet from the edge of a private lake next to the interstate.
Investigators say he fell asleep at the wheel.
