The Colorado House has voted 62 to 1 to censure Colorado Springs Republican Representative Douglas Bruce for kicking a newspaper photographer.
Bruce kicked Rocky Mountain News photographer Javier Manzano for taking his picture during the House prayer January 14th, a few hours before Bruce was sworn in to office. Bruce has said that he didn't kick the photographer, but gently pushed him away with his foot.
Censure is considered more severe than a reprimand because it could be read at length on the floor and can require that the member stand in the well of the House while it is read.
Bruce responded by saying, "no member, nor the pastor, was aware I had tapped the photographer's knee. how can an unknown event be disorderly or disruptive?"
