Denver (AP) An immigration agent charged with accessing a federal database to help a political campaign will have to face trial after a federal judge refused to dismiss the case against him.

Cory Voorhis' attorneys have said the case against the agent should be tossed out because other government workers accessed the same information, but did not face prosecution.

But after two days of hearings, U.S. District Judge John L. Kane denied the motion and set a trial for March 31.

Voorhis has said he was working with Bob Beauprez's campaign for governor in 2006 when he used the National Crime Information Center Computer. Beauprez, a Republican, lost the election to Gov. Bill Ritter.
