Local Liquor Store Employee Accused of Raping Customer

A local liquor store employee is behind bars. He's accused of raping a customer.

Jack Murphy is facing charges of first degree sex assault and second degree burglary.

According to an arrest affidavit, the victim had been drinking and took a cab to Mount Garfield Liquors located at 3233 I–70B.

She said Murphy is an acquaintance of hers and she saw him working at the liquor store. She told police she gave him a hug and invited him to come see her some time. Later that night she says she woke up to him raping her and beating her.

She was taken to St. Mary's Hospital.

Murphy is being held at the Mesa County Jail. His bond has not been set.

11 News contacted Mount Garfield Liquor, they denied employing ever Murphy.
