authorities say 25-year old Joshua Patterson hopped into a pick up truck at a City Market that still had the keys in it and took off.
Mesa County Sheriff deputies were following Patterson and when they flipped on their lights, Patterson got out of the truck and took off.
After a foot chase, he put up a fight, so a taser was used to try and calm him down.
Patterson was taken to the Mesa County Jail.
He also had his dogs with him during the theft and they were taken into custody by Mesa County Animal Control.
Patterson is facing charges from both the Grand Junction Police Department and the Sheriff's Office. The charges include auto theft, resisting arrest and trespassing.
