The 10th Annual Battle of the Books starts Tuesday.

Students in grades 1 through 5 from 11 Elementary Schools will compete in the District Battle of the Books at Dos Rios Elementary School. The program is an extension of the reading program. Over 13,000 students will take place with over 9,000 books read.

Students must read books from a supplied list and pose questions about the books they read to qualify for the competition. Student questions are reviewed by teachers and then used in individual school competitions to determine 3 winners from each grade level. The winners will then compete in the district battle!

Head to the gym at Dos Rios Elementary School for the competition at 265 Linden Ave in Grand Junction. The gym will be closed when the grade level battles begin. After each round, late students will only be admitted once: 5 minutes after the competition starts.

Competition Times:

1st Grade: 5:00-5:30
2nd Grade: 5:45-6:15
3rd Grade: 6:30-7:00
4th Grade: 7:15-7:45
5th Grade: 8:00-8:30
