Westminster, Colo. (AP) Westminster police say a young couple ripped off a Girl Scout group, paying them for cookies with a fake $100 bill.

The scouts say the couple explained the bill had been washed when asked why it looked strange.

The girls say the $93.50 they paid in change wiped out all the earnings they made Friday night outside a King Soopers.

Girl scouts use money from cookie sales for camping trips and contributions to area charities.

Authorities did say the story has a silver lining: an anonymous resident called in and donated $100 to the scouts.
