A new bill would require school districts to report teacher misconduct to the state within 24 hours.
This after numerous reports of teachers involved in unlawful behavior with students, including sexual misconduct.
The bill would give the state board 24 hours to do a complete background check on teacher applicants.
It would also require schools to report a teacher who is dismissed or who resigns as a result of unlawful behavior if there is evidence to back it up.
