Missing Cross-Country Skiers Safely Return To Campground

Aspen, colo. (AP) Two cross-country skiers who failed to return as scheduled have made it safely to a campground after heavy snow forced them to spend a night under trees.

Zeke Tiernan, 32, and Sean Shehan, 38, both from the Aspen area, told the Aspen Times that they were able to build a fire and weather a blizzard that hit the area Sunday night.

The two planned to summit Aspen Mountain and ski into town Sunday, but turned back after reaching a hut. A search launched Monday was canceled after one of the men used a cell phone to call his girlfriend.
