Xcel crews have capped a gas leak in Clifton.
Mesa County Public Works says construction crews working on a bridge replacement project on 33 road and E 1/4 road were digging around a manhole when they struck a four inch natural gas pipe.
It happened just after nine o'clock this morning.
Firefighters drove through neighborhoods to check on the air quality as a precautionary measure.
Public works says no one lost gas service.
It took about two and a half hours for Xcel crews to stop the leak.
