If you've driven by a local fire station, you've probably noticed flags flying at half staff. That's because firefighters are mourning the loss of one of their own.
From now through Thursday, the flags will remain at half staff in honor of Fire Captain Shane Stewart of the Ault-Pierce Fire Department located near Fort Collins.
Stewart was killed while responding to an EMS call in a department vehicle.
The captain will be laid to rest Thursday with full fire service honors.
Some local department members are also wearing badge shrouds to honor the fallen firefighter.
