Starting May 5, 2008 anyone with two bags to check will pay at least $25 for that second bag. Currently US Airways says about 8% of their customers checks two or more bags.
The policy applies to all flights within the US, to and from Canada, Latin America, the Caribbean and Europe.
There are some exemptions to the policy change that include first class passengers, frequent flier participants, military personnel in uniform, and unaccompanied minors.
The airline says the new fee will add $100,000,000.00 more in revenues.
Earlier this month another airline, United, began charging $50 for an extra bag.
