In an unexpected move, the democrats also nominated a candidate to run for the commissioner spot currently held by Janet Rowland.

Clifton resident Dickie D. Lewis says he made the decision to run just days ago.

Lewis says he's disappointed with the way things have been happening at the county level and believes he can change things for the better. He says he supports a five member board of county commissioners and wants to address concerns with development while still letting growth occur. Lewis says if he didn't think he could beat his incumbent opponent he would never have entered the race in the first place.

Fellow Commission Candidate Dan Robinson says he's glad to see another democrat run for county office.
