Auburn, Ala. (AP) Alabama authorities are investigating the death of an Auburn University freshman as a homicide, but they say there's no sign others on campus are in danger.

Lauren Burk was found shot Tuesday night on a highway several miles from the school. Auburn Police found her Honda Civic engulfed in flames on campus about 20 minutes later. She died at the hospital.

The school says it has increased police presence on campus following the 18-year-old's death.

Police say they haven't identified a suspect and are “still investigating leads.”

An on-campus prayer vigil for Burk is being organized by her friends and a memorial is being planned by her sorority.
