A project that will support higher education is one step closer to developing a large plot of land in North East Grand Junction.
The land is currently owned by The Mesa State Foundation which is a non-profit that raises money for the college.
The growth plan for the 154 acres of land in Grand Junction was amended by City Council on Wednesday night, allowing for mixed use. Mixed use means the land will be able to be used for housing, commercial, and possible industrial use.
The foundation thinks the future developments of this land will benefit the growing area.
The next step for this property will be zoning, and The Mesa State Foundation hopes to have the property sold to a developer within the next two years.
