Today, Girl Scouts of America celebrates its 96th birthday and the celebration, for some, calls to mind how the organization began.

The organization started in Savannah, Georgia with just 12 girls. Mary Ann Deard has been involved with girl scouts since 1961, and looking back on hers and her daughters time in the girl scouts, she says it's like two different worlds, but she's thrilled with how the organization has evolved.

The service center had a little party to celebrate the occasion with cookies, cake and punch.
