A man is behind bars after police say he tried to solicit a child for prostitution.
Friday afternoon, Fruita Police arrested 45-year-old Larry Dean Davis after they say an investigation linked him to child prostitution.
At this time, the Fruita Police Department is releasing few details about the case. Officers say they received a tip in January that something like this was happening, and that Davis was invovled.
Fruita Police launched an investigation into the matter, and now says it has probable cause that Davis committed the crimes of soliciting for child prostitution and inducement of child prostitution. Both crimes are class three felonies.
Officers say they still can't believe something like this would happen in their city.
"It is a very uncommon crime," said Fruita Police Officer John Coughran. "In the nine years I've been a police officer in the city of Fruita, this is the first time I've seen somebody arrested for this."
Davis is being held at the Mesa County jail. His bond has not been set.
