Charlotte, N.C. (AP) The US Airways pilot whose gun went off in flight says he was trying to stow the weapon when it discharged.
A police report says the pilot gave the gun to a federal air marshal after the flight from Denver landed in Charlotte, North Carolina on Saturday.
The report says a US Airways tower supervisor arrived on scene while the pilot was on the phone with the transportation security administration.
The supervisor told police that's when he learned about the shooting. Police were notified about an hour later.
Federal Air Marshal Service Spokesman Greg Alter says the incident is under investigation.
Airline officials have said the accidental discharge did not endanger anyone on board.
