Monument Valley, Utah (AP) Authorities say a pilot survived the crash of a small plane in southeastern Utah near the Arizona border.

The civil air patrol says the single-engine plane crashed Sunday near Nokai Dome, a mountain in San Juan County.

Capt. Steve Hamilton of the air patrol in Colorado says the plane flipped when the pilot tried to land in a remote area. He says the flight originated in Durango, Colo.

Hamilton says the pilot had no major injuries. A national park service helicopter took him to Bullfrog, Utah.

No one else was on the plane.
