Miami (AP) A Vietnamese girl with a 16-pound tumor on her face is in Miami awaiting surgery to restore her ability to eat and speak.
The 15-year-old girl has had the tumor since she was three. It's thought to be benign, but it has severely disfigured her face and doctors say it could suffocate her.
She's never been able to attend school because of it.
Doctors at the University Of Miami/Jackson Memorial Medical Center will remove the tumor in a 10-hour surgery next week. Experts say it's unlikely to come back.
The International Kids Fund is seeking donations to fund the surgery.
