Fort Carson, Colo. (AP) The army says a fire that burned about 14 square miles at remote part of Fort Carson is fully contained.
Officials said Wednesday the cause is still under investigation. The National Weather Service reported no lightning strikes in the area when the fire started April 15.
Firefighting pilot Gert Marais of Fort Benton, Mont., was killed the day the fire broke out when his single-engine plane crashed after dumping fire-retardant slurry.
Aaron Sauer of the National Transportation Safety Board says an investigation into the crash has not turned up any problems with the aircraft or its engine so far.
He says it could take months to determine what caused the crash.
