Father Accused of Handcuffing Son & Beating Him is Arrested

A father wanted for allegedly handcuffing his own son to a banister and then beating him with a belt at least 50 times has been arrested.

The Grand Junction man was taken into custody just before seven o'clock Thursday night in the 2500 block of Foresight Circle.

Court documents released Thursday state the man and his girlfriend who is also in jail, kicked the boy in the groin, denied him food and bathroom privileges and forced him to exercise as a form of punishment.

Investigators say the teen had bruises on his wrists and several cuts and weighed only 95 lbs. when he was able to escape from the home and get help.

Both parents are facing charges of false imprisonment and sexual assault on a child.

The girlfriend is being held on a $200,000 bond, the father's bond is set at set at $300,000.
