Miami (AP) Pat Riley has resigned as head coach of the Miami heat. He'll remain the team's president and in his first act in his new role, named long-time assistant Erik Spoelstraas his replacement. Riley's heat had the worst record in the NBA this season with just 15 wins and 67 defeats.
Unless he comes back to the NBA, riley finishes his career with 1,210 victories, third most in NBA history behind Lenny Wilkens and Don Nelson. He's won seven NBA titles, five as a head coach, one as an assistant coach and one as a player. He was voted into the Basketball Hall of Fame earlier this month.
