Investigation into Infants Death Now Called "Criminal"

By  |

The Mesa County coroner continues to perform tests on an infant that was found dead in a north Grand Junction home. And now police are calling the investigation into the baby boy's death "criminal."

The Mesa County Coroner's office and the Grand Junction police department won't say why they're calling the baby's death a criminal investigation. But police say they're following leads based on new evidence from the baby's autopsy.

On Tuesday the baby boy was found wrapped up in a home on Grand Vista way. And the mother was no where to be found.

Police say they have since been able to contact the mother and are going to compare her story with the medical evidence.

Police say they will release more information tomorrow.

They have not named a suspect.
