White House (AP) The economy will be the topic as President Bush tours a technology company in St. Louis.
Bush will be talking up the stimulus package that he believes will provide a boost to the slumping U.S. economy.
He'll be touring a minority-owned technology company that has benefitted from tax breaks to encourage investment. The breaks are part of the economic stimulus package that he worked out with Congress. The president says the plan will help get the economy on the right track when consumers spend their tax rebate checks.
But the latest figures show consumers are having to spend more for food, energy and other necessities. Those higher prices could gobble up the expected rebate boost.
