Grand Junction High School Teaching Tough Lesson on Tardiness

By  |

Grand Junction High School's student newspaper says 40,000 tardy slips were handed out last semester alone.

That means in the school of 1,700 students, each one averaged being late to class 23 times in the roughly 90 day semester.

Grand Junction High School administrators are now cracking down on students who are late.

They are closely monitoring hallways and handing out detention slips for students who are even just seconds after the bell.

Detentions range from ten minutes at lunch to in-school suspension.

School administrators say students need to learn and respect punctuality and learning time.
