17 Graduate Intense Peace Officer Training Program

Sixteen intense weeks of training has paid off for 17 dedicated men as they graduate Saturday from the Peace Officer Standards and Training program.

Western Colorado Community College held a graduation ceremony for its 2008 class.

The academy teaches students the skills necessary to be an entry level peace officer in the state of Colorado. Three of Saturday's graduates were sponsored by the Mesa County Sheriff's Office.

The POST Academy is a collaboration between the Sheriff's Office, the Police Department and the Community College.
