Palmer Voted in as Junction's New Mayor

The City of Grand Junction has a new mayor.

During last night's city council meeting, the council unanimously voted Gregg Palmer to serve as mayor and Teresa Coons to serve as mayor pro temp.

Palmer says during his term, the council will continue to tackle the issue of growth.

He says the council will also have some big decisions to make when it comes to designing, funding and constructing a new public safety center for the fire and police departments.

He says he's honored to be chosen as mayor and looks forward to the next year.

The council will hold a formal ceremony thanking former mayor Jim Doody for his service during their meeting tomorrow night.
