Fort Collins Firefighters Save Cat from House Fire

Fort Collins, Colo. (AP) A cat found inside a burning house in Fort Collins has survived thanks to firefighters who used a special oxygen mask made for pets.

Firefighters found two cats in the smoke-filled basement of the house Monday, but were able to save only one. The cat was taken to the Colorado State University Veterinary school.

The Larimer County Humane Society donated the special oxygen mask to the Poudre valley fire authority last year.

The home's main level ustained heavy fire and smoke damage in the living area. No people were injured.

A damage estimate wasn't available. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
