Officials say that the body that was discovered in an Orchard Mesa drainage ditch Saturday morning is that of 47-year-old Colleen Maxwell.

The Mesa County Coroner says the Grand Junction woman drowned and that alcohol was a contributing factor in her death.

She was discovered around 6:30am Saturday by a Daily Sentinel delivery man near the intersection of 27 1/2 Road and B 1/4 Road. Authorities say he told them he noticed Maxwell's truck sticking out of a ditch, and when he went closer to investigate, he saw her lying face down in the shallow water.

The Mesa County Sheriff's Office says it is still trying to figure out how Maxwell ended up in the ditch, but doesn't believe she was involved in any type of car accident.

The Coroner has ruled her death an accident.
