Missing Grand Junction Man Found Dead Save Email Print

The Eagle County Sheriff's Office says it's discovered the body of a Grand Junction man who had been reported missing since Friday.

11 News has confirmed with his girlfriend, that 28-year-old Matthew Hetland was found dead in his vehicle at a rest stop near Edwards, Colorado Sunday evening.

Officials say just after 4:40pm, a passer by reported seeing a man lying in his vehicle at the rest stop, not moving.

Officials say Hetland's girlfriend had reported him missing to the Grand Junction Police Department after he didn't return home Thursday. They say he was working in the Edwards area doing office equipment repair.

His cause of death is unknown at this time. An autopsy will be performed by the Eagle County Coroner later this week. Foul play is not suspected.

His girlfriend tells 11 News she is devastated by the news, but is glad that he was found.
