The family of a woman killed in a freeway accident accepted her diploma at Mesa State College this morning.

Christina Sterling-Soffel, 28, died in January she was hit by another vehicle while crossing the freeway, after she pulling over to help a stranded trucker.

She was scheduled to graduate today with three degrees.

In her place, her sister, father, and husband sat amongst the graduates.

Her sister Jennifer walked alongside those in caps and gowns, up to the stage, and accepted her sister’s diploma.

Christina Sterling-Soffel was an honors student and an active volunteer in the community.
