Centennial, Colo. (AP) The penalty phase will get under way Monday in Arapahoe county in the trial of a man convicted of killing two people, including one who was scheduled to testify against him in another trial.
The same jury that found Sir Mario Owens guilty last week of first-degree murder in the deaths of Javad Marshall-Fields and Vivian Wolfe will now decide his sentence.
Owens could face the death penalty, but jurors would have to be unanimous in their decision or Owens would automatically be sentenced to prison.
Owens is already serving life in prison for another shooting death.
Marshall-Fields had been expected to testify against Owens in that case.
